Week two

* Dead herb plants from kitchen put in compost
* Straggly holly bush donated to Mum and Dad who can work wonders in reviving plants (they'll sell it at a charity plant sales once it's in a better state)
* Six years worth of bank statements shredded
* Fridge magnet put in the charity bag
* Four margarine/ice cream tubs and eight plastic bottles put in recycling bin (why do I keep so many "just in case"?!)
* Set of Christmas rubber stamps set aside for eBaying
* 7 fantasy football "medals" identified for giving to Mum, who knows of a charity that can use them

A new year and still more stuff to shift.

A slow start, but a start

Over the past week the following has left my home:

* rather battered-looking cakeboard
* pile of paper shredding
* Christmas cards recycled
* cloth bag with a big rip cut up for cleaning rags

Identified for eBaying/charity shop (so, on its way but not yet gone!):

* pair of gloves
* couple of Christmas decorations
* board game
* DVD

In a salute to an old tradition, and in acknowledgement of the fact that NOTHING much gets done over the festive period, I let myself off active Decluttering duties between the 24th December and 7th January. Nonetheless, this is my list for the end of December.

 

On my part this includes Christmas presents, though I have not listed those for my family.

 

IN:
- 5 tops, 2 jumpers, 1 jacket
- 2 hair clips, 1 pair hair forks
- 1 cookbook
- 1 pair slippers
- 1 really nice second hand umbrella fold buggy

REPURPOSED, MADE OR MENDED
- Mended the tiny hole in one of the new tops that meant I could get it ultra cheap

Decluttering Progress.. W/E 11th Dec 2011

IN:
- 1 set new fairy lights
- 5 bags hand me down baby / toddler boy clothes
- Working printer

 

OUT:
- Spare shovel to the people next door
- 4 sets broken fairy lights and a tatty star shaped wreath (saved the bulbs because people ALWAYS need spares)
- Broken printer (was under warranty, so exchanged)

 

PENDING:
- Advent train - if not gone by January will be recycled
- MP3 CD player
- 3 Books
- Moses basket, Baby bath, Boys coat, Office chair, A4 lever arch file, Baby steriliser, Plastic file suspension box, Box of girls' shoes, PS2 DVD player remote, baby clothes still pending

REPURPOSED, MADE OR MENDED
- Two wicker stars and some unused battery powered LED lights combined to make a decoration for our porthole window
- Dollshouse suite mended for DD
- Nativity costumes for nursery worked on but not yet complete

Sorted out most of my beads into their colour themed boxes again today.

(This doesn't include my semi precious boxes, my little colour boxes of oddments, or findings.)

Decluttering Progress.. W/E 4th Dec 2011

IN:
- Materials to make advent calendar
- Cozy-toes, a few items of clothing, and a 'baby sofa' from a friend for my DS

- Carpet for the stairs

OUT:
- Two boxes of books (some to a friend, some to the library)
- Bag of bedding
- Several crystals and mirrors to a friend
- 2 sofas (waiting for council uplift)

PENDING:
- Moses basket to a pregnant friend
- Baby bath
- Boys coat waiting until we see a family member
- Office chair waiting to go to the tip
- A4 lever arch file, Baby steriliser, Bag of assorted things to charity shop, Plastic file suspension box, Box of girls' shoes, PS2 DVD player remote still pending
- Big bag of baby clothes still waiting until we see my sister in law
- Suitcase of other baby clothes also needing to be passed on

REPURPOSED OR MENDED
- Made an advent 'calendar' from a long ribbon and 24 socks
- DH laid carpet on the stairs

Proof that Grom is a miracle worker.He put an extra cupboard in the spare room whilst i was asleep and made carpet visible in the middle of the room too!
Last night I also "decluttered" a kids book, 2 bracelets and a glow stick to some trick or treaters.
